While attending a LLI Conference in Rome my twin brother and I saw lots of sights. Here we're Visiting the Trevi Fountain before a group dinner.
I was at a cross road, after a successful 20 year career I could either get back on the path I had been on or start living the kind of life that seemed elusive working for someone else. The goal was to start living a more fulfilling life which for me was:
- Having flexibility to attend exclusive educational conferences worldwide
- Be actively involved in the care and education of two young daughters
- Get a cut swimmers build from swimming 3-4 time a week
I had survived and thrived years of hyper-growth, “right sizings”, layoffs and take-overs then woke up to the realization I was missing too much of life. I wanted something beyond freedom; I also wanted flexibility and fulfillment that just didn’t come from a job.
All were simple decisions that took a life of their own. It’s like planting a seed and watching it grow. I didn’t know anything about building a playhouse or starting a direct sales business. What I did know was that I would never have what I wanted unless I took action.
I had rented my time and creativity out long enough; it was time to put a down payment on owning my life and future.
Having a job was like renting a home; I was paying for something I would never own. Even worse it felt like I was subject to someone else’s decisions about what I could or could not do. Sales territories, pay structures, vacation time… after 20+ years being a employee gets old. Though I enjoyed most jobs I was also having to survive lay-offs, down sizings and take-overs too. After 12+ years of thriving and surviving with PeopleSoft/Oracle I was tired of the game, something needed to change… me.
During this time, I had taken time to design and build a playhouse for my girls, started pursuing fitness goals I had put off for years and re-connected with my family, community and church. I didn’t want to sell myself out for “corporate success” again; but there didn’t seem to be a better way, or so I thought.
Though I did start another job, I found an ad that introduced me to a personal development and coaching business. It offered what no job could, freedom, flexibility and fulfillment. It also offered a way to utilize the skills I already had to teach and lead who were ready for change too! I got started right away; self-employment was an adjustment but I enjoyed what I was doing, the community of people and coaching by others. More importantly I was learning, growing and had time for what is important in my life.
I’ve learned more about personal fulfillment and how to get better at what I was already doing. I became a niche marketing expert vs. product pusher. If you have the right tools and training, Internet marketing can be a lot of fun. I love teaching others how to learn internet marketing start on the right foot!
Being a personal development business I’ve learned a lot about myself and what is important to having a fulfilling life. What I enjoy most is the opportunity to train others and assist them in reaching their full potential. If you’re one of the multitudes of people who is dissatisfied with your current situation, learn how to create wealth.
